Commencement Speaker Lynn Dohm to Receive Honorary Degree

Cybersecurity expert and advocate Lynn Dohm will receive a Doctor of Science & Technology, Honoris Causa, from Champlain College and serve as the commencement speaker to Champlain College Online undergraduate and master’s students.

Lynn Dohm’s area of focus is a critical aspect of cybersecurity: People.

With over 25 years of organizational and leadership experience, Dohm specializes in partnership building, advocacy, and strategy. As Executive Director of Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS), she is energized by the industry and community partnerships – both well-established and nascent – that WiCyS has fostered through its initiatives, training programs, partnerships, and recruitment efforts. Her leadership has established WiCyS as a leading model of how a collaborative, multi-organizational approach can strengthen the cybersecurity workforce. Dohm has held various roles in cybersecurity workforce enterprises, actively participating in grant-funded programs and nonprofits that help bridge the gap of the critical cybersecurity workforce shortage. Prior to WiCyS, Dohm contributed to launching the Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) and worked in various roles within the National Cybersecurity Training & Education Center (NCYTE), Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA), Cybersecurity Competition Federation (CyberFed), National CyberWatch Center, and National Cyber League, among others.

Driven by a passion for harnessing diverse mindsets, skill sets, and perspectives to solve problems, Dohm leads discussion on inclusion, equity, and allyship. She has been extensively recognized for her expertise and commitment to improving accessibility and opportunities in cybersecurity, enhancing the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in the field.

Dohm’s efforts have garnered numerous awards and accolades, including Future Con’s Award of Excellence 2024, being named a Top 25 cybersecurity leader of 2024 by CS Hub, receiving People’s Choice award for Cybersecurity Woman of the Year, the “Light that Shines” award from EmpoWE-R Women of Infosec, and being listed a Top 100 Women in Cybersecurity by Cyber Defense Magazine. Recently, she was also appointed to the Cloud Security Alliance AI Safety Initiative Non-Profit Leadership Council.

An accomplished keynote presenter, panelist, and moderator for international conferences, events, and organizations, Dohm participated in over 50 speaking engagements in 2023, raising awareness about the importance of bolstering the cybersecurity workforce with people from diverse walks of life. Additionally, Dohm is a proud contributor to the books “The Privacy Leader Compass” and “Measuring Inclusion: A case study in Cybersecurity.” She served on the International Judging Panel for the IFSEC Global “Top Influencers & Fire,” is an advisory board member for Women in Cybersecurity – Beyond Borders, and is an inaugural member of the ISC2 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force.
